Due to the fact that the Sony 16-105 lens is a long focal length zoom lens, it exhibits very minimal distortion. At greater focal lengths and the widest of apertures, distortions are still minimal. This capability enables very fine photography with resultant clear and sharp images. Most photographers also take advantage of the lens’s long focal length range and the variability of apertures to cover events which requires then to stay far from the object of interest. Due to this same capability, the lens is also very useful to beginner photographers who take advantage of the lens’s capability of ultra-zooming mechanisms. The lens basically has a level of vignetting effects but is largely prominent within the range of 16-24 focal lengths at the widest apertures. This effect produces soft corners of the images and concentrates brightness in the center portion of the image. This goes a long way to produce beautiful portraits.
